American Government Weekly Lesson Objectives and Targets
Week of April 21st
Monday: *Students will be able to play the roles of Republican and Democratic committee members with four different views on raising the minimum wage. *Students will be able to forge a bipartisan majority through political bargaining after hearing arguments of opposing interest groups in a committee hearing. *Students will be able to understand the procedures and political process of committee action on a bill as a participate in the classroom simulation of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. *Students will be able to discuss the arguments in favor of and opposed to minimum wage laws. *Students will be able to present their Unit 3 group projects effectively in class. *Students will be able to give positive and constructive feedback to those students presenting their projects in class.
Tuesday: *Students will be able to describe what happens to a bill once it is referred to a committee. *Students will be able to describe the role of conference committees in the legislative process *Students will be able to identify the first steps in the introduction of a bill to the House. *Students will be able to assess the intended and unintended consequences of minimum wage laws. *Students will be able to explain what happens to a bill on the House floor, and identify the final step in the passage of a bill in the House.
Wednesday: *Students will be able to comprehend information, analyze how it is presented, and establish what it means *Students will be able to demonstrate prior knowledge and demonstrate problem solving skills on know it? show it *Students will be able to evaluate the actions the President can take after both houses have passed a bill. *Students will be able to understand, retain valuable information, and recite key concepts through review and practice assessments
Thursday: *Students will be able to demonstrate vocabulary knowledge and problem solving skills through each multiple choice question on the assessment. *Students will be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills and demonstrate problem analysis on the assessment
Friday: *Students will be able to describe the President’s many roles. *Students will be able to understand the formal qualifications necessary to become President. *Students will be able to explain how the President’s term of office has changed over time. *Students will be able to describe the President’s pay and benefits.

Objectives and Targets Week of April 21st Monday: *Students will be able to analyze how Western society changed after World War 1. *Students will be able to describe the literary and artistic trends that emerged in the 1920's. *Students will be able to list several advances in modern scientific thought. *Students will be able to compare the postwar economic situations in Britain, France, and the United States. *Students will be able to assess the extent to which the reasoning and evidence in their textbook and Prezi presentations support the author's and creator's claims.
Tuesday: *Students will be able to comprehend information, analyze how it is presented, and establish what it means . *Students will be able to understand, retain valuable information, and recite key concepts through review and practice assessments. *Students will be able to describe how conditions in Italy favored the rise of Mussolini. *Students will be able to summarize how Mussolini changed Italy. *Students will be able to scan and find important elements in each paragraph.

Thursday: *Students will be able to assess the extent to which the reasoning and evidence in their textbook and Prezi presentations support the author's and creator's claims. *Students will be able to summarize the domestic and foreign policy issues Europe faced after World War 2. *Students will be able to describe how the Great Depression began and spread and how Britain, France, and the United States tried to address it. *Students will be able to analyze the problems faced by the Weimar Republic. *Students will be able to describe the Nazi party's political, social, economic, and cultural policies.
Friday: *Students will be able to understand the values and goals of fascist ideology. *Students will be able to compare and contrast fascism and communism. *Students will be able to describe the effects of Stalin's five-year plans. *Students will be able to explain how Stalin tried to control how people thought in the Soviet Union. *Students will be able to list communist changes to Soviet society.
